SENRA JAMIE ... PART ONE

I'm so glad that new people who come to try Second Life don't have to put up with the blocky pointy avatars with the flexi hairdos and club feet. The new Senra avatars are definitely a step up. I thought I would try it out and see if it was simpler to upgrade to something nice than the old system avatars were. So, I started out with the free Senra Jamie set from the system Library. Pretty good for a starter avatar!

Accessories all L$75 or less at time of purchase at Weekend Sales:
Exile Brittney Hair gift, DDL Rumor Purse, LittleP Grocery Day Milk Set, Phedora Bang-Chan Unisex Boots, Shiny Stuffs More Flavors lipstick, Shiny Stuffs Mod Chic Eyeshadow

Left Skin: Free Jamie Skin tone 3 from the system Library. (Eyebrows and Nails on separate layers)
Middle Skin and Eyes: By Swirly "Posie" with skin, shape, eyebrow shape, several colors of eyes L$75 on Marketplace
Right Skin: AlaskaMetro "Jean" tone 3 with light, dark, or no eyebrows $50 on Marketplace

Jamie's hairdos are pretty tragic, a step above walking around bald but that's about it. That's OK because with a little effort it is easy to find some decent free and cheap starter wigs. The two-tone hair in the top photo is a free gift from Exile, and the blond balayage hair is a free gift from Lamb. If you take your new avatar around some weekend sales, you can probably find something even nicer under $75.

The eyelashes on the avatar are pretty short, but if you add some eye makeup it probably won't be too noticeable. I think it is nice that the avatar blinks. Add some lipstick and eyeshadow from those weekend sales. After you make a few choices of colors and edit the body shape, you can get a fair variety of appearance.

One of the ways this free avatar is designed to be lower tier than the ones people pay for is the feet are only flat feet, without any Barbie tippy - toes. But you can work around that to wear some ankle boots and high-top sneakers. Here's how:

Left Shoes: Free Senra Jamie Slides from the system Library. (they come in ten colors)
Middle Shoes: Semller Stomper Boots (this version was L$50 at a weekend sale)
Right Shoes: J's boots (these ankle boots are unrigged, editable and resizable)

If you look at the middle pair, I am wearing a free alpha layer that hides my feet. You can find it also in the Library, in a folder called Body Parts > Alpha Masks > No Feet. But in the photo can you see my toenails floating above the boots? Take a look. You can hide the toenails by buying a lovely free gift from AlaskaMetro on the Marketplace:

This fantastic gift contains nail polish appliers for other more expensive mesh bodies, but also has layers for the Senra body. What is great about this set is that the fingernails and toenails are on separate layers. If you want to wear heeled boots like in the photos above, remove the toenails layer and wear only the fingernails. Perfection!  Now you can search for unrigged heeled boots to your heart's content. Some rigged boots might fit too, but you'd better try DEMOs first to see how they fit?

Love,
Serene
